Dog behaving in a conrcerning manner licking his nose and carpet

Our Labrador with a little collie in him, went for a walk and run in the highlands in some gorse more , he did quite a lot of running, had a little white froth around his mouth, which he gets quite often after running, then went home very happy and still full of bounce, drunk a lot of water went to bed and then after about 5 minutes acted strange, he was licking his nose all the time, then the carpet, then our door, shoes, anything in fact, he was acting like he wanted to be sick but never was until about 20 minutes later of this behavior. he done this once before in the summer and we just thought he was to hot after exercise but it is now winter. the only other time i saw this after a dog accidentally licked some pepper, but he did not eat steal or scavenge any food or foreign objects. this was yesterday and lasted for about 2 hours and he is fine this morning.
Any ideas welcome

He may have licked or eaten a bite of something while out that didn't agree with him. If it continues, you may want to make a trip to the vet.

Possibility he is allergic to something growing out there. Hard to know, you might want to confer with your Vet if it happens again.
