Dilated cardiomyopathy or enlarged heart please help

Hi everyone

Today Zoe's doctor told me that her heart got bigger and that is one the reason she has difficulties in her breathing

I found out that dogs diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy will die from a few weeks to a number of years.

She is only 4 years old and she was always sick either skin problem or breathing problem.....

she was not with me for a year and its been 2 weeks I finally managed to bring her to my country.

She has fungus and ear infection right now but getting better and difficulty in her breathing when she is sleeping.

I did everything for her I took her all the vet back in Malaysia when I was studying there

I tried everything for her to get better. She was supposed to be Jack russell but as she grew up she looked like Chihuahua so I can say she is mixed.

Please help is there anything I can do for her besides her medication?
any activity or any types of food?
is there anyone experiencing this before?

I'm so sorry that you are going through this, that you just got your dog home and found out she's so sick. I'm sorry I don't know anything about that illness, but really hope she'll get better quickly, now that she's settled back with you.

I had a dog with dilated cardiomyopathy. She contracted Chagas disease which led to the heart condition.

She was around 5 years old when diagnosed and she lived to be almost 10 years old. She was on lasix and enalapril. I kept her as active as possible and kept her lean. Some people say COQ10 is helpful and I gave her that too. I would ask your vet about the activity level your dog should be doing. My dog was a Lab and she loved to retrieve. I did that with her every day, almost until the day she died. I let her rest often and didn't over exert her but I couldn't not let her do what she loved most. Please don't take my dog and what I chose to do with her as a recommendation for your dog. Talk to your vet about this.

I hope you have some good years left with your dog. It's always devastating to get this kind of diagnosis in a young dog. I know I was in a kind of shock at first. As some time passed, I accepted that I would lose her to this at some point and vowed to enjoy the time we had left together. Best wishes to you and your dog. They never live long enough.

Thank you dear. I am sorry the you and your dog went through this but I am happy that she lived to be almost 10 years old. I will ask the vet.

My fiance and I just moved to a beautiful house with a garden I took her there when she got to my country I knew we would have so much fun there she loves walking and she already fell in love with our house and the garden.

And you are right they never live long enough.
