Constant on and off diarrhea

My golden retriever is 1.3 years old, but since I got him at 3 months he has had constant on and off diarrhea. Typically his poop will be normal for about a week and then for 2-3 days he will get the diarrhea. I live in an apartment so I see everything that comes out of his body. He has seen the vet several times since I got him, but she says nothings wrong... but I don't necessarily trust the "vet". I've been wondering if his bowl problems are food related... He used to eat his food (canidae All Life Stages-Dry) willingly, but now he refuses to eat his food-sometimes he won't eat for 2 days. I have tried properly transitioning his diet to Acana several times but this only ends in watery diarrhea, so I have stuck with feeding Canidae. I walk him every morning and I work at a doggie daycare so he comes with me and plays for about 4 hours 2-3 days a week, so I can't see why he has no appetite. I have tired Calamine powder for the diarrhea, which I read in holistic veterinary book helps sweep his bowels, but after giving him this he had quite a lot of blood in his poop. I'm so lost with this problem as to what is wrong... He is very spoiled and loved and I am not a first time dog/golden owner, but I have never had any problems like this before. Is there anyone else who has had these same issues with their pup that could provide some insight to a solution or what worked for you? Thank you, sorry I know this is long.

You could the Canidae Pure grain free formulas and make sure that whatever one you choose does not contain the same proteins that are in the formula you are currently feeding. Out of all the different dog foods that I've tried with my dog he does best on a few of the Canidae Pure foods. One of the things that causes my dog to get an upset tummy is chicken.

Has your vet looked into your dog having IBD?
