confused about my dog

So my dog is a German Shepherd / Husky mix. Two weeks ago she would squeal when she jumped on couch or just sitting down , it then got to were one night she would just sit there panting and getting up then squealing. I took her to get her claws trimmed thinking maybe that was causing her pain. It seemed to work , she didnt squeal as much only when she was moving around a lot (I thought maybe her paws were sore or something) ,but then a couple of days ago ,at 4 AM ,I heard screeching at the top of her lungs I ran out and saw her pacing and screeching , she was limping , I took her to vet ,at first I thought her back legs were hurt so we got xrays .Everything looked fine.Vet gave her meds for arthritis(that didn't help at all). But as soon as she got home it started again , everytime she stood up and walked she screeched ,i had to sit the entire rest of the day with her like that she wouldnt sleep at all just whined ,got up screeched, then I noticed her front left leg was shaking and she started limping on that leg.I went to a another vet the next day , they felt her entire paw and she didnt react at all , now she is on some pain killers , they said she may need an xray if pain doesnt go away. I'm really confused on how her pain will be absolutely horrible and then disappear for a while were she can walk and then come back, they said may be false pregnancy but don't know how that could cause her to limp. Now she is resting a lot she still squeals somewhat and when she goes up stairs she tries not to put pressure on front paws. Does anyone know what this might be?

Sounds like she has a pinched nerve somewhere, maybe in her leg, or spine, and it most likely won't show up on x-ray. You need a vet that is familiar with orthopedic problems. It will also help the vet if you film her while she's in pain so he can see exactly what is going on with her.

Back when my dog had a pinched nerve in his spine he started out by just randomly hiding. Then he began to run into a room stop short and look at his but like something had stung him. From their it progressed to randomly, loudly, crying.

How old is she? Have there been any recent changes in her physical activity? And what medications do you already give her? Lastly, have you checked her for ticks?

She is 9, she's just been tired because of the medicine, they first gave her Novox 100mg,that didnt work so they said to combine it with Gabapentin 100mg ,that seems to be working though she still squeals if she hits down too fast .I noticed yesterday I lightly pushed her back to fix her food and she squealed when I did that. She also still avoiding putting pressuring on front paws when she goes up steps.

I agree with Rain, I too think she may have some neurological issues. Time to visit a Vet that deals with orthopedic problems. If she has a compressed nerve in her neck, her front leg(s) could well be affected.

That's almost like asking how high is up? There are so many possible variables that would have a direct bearing on what treatment she should have, but you really need a knowledgeable Vet to diagnose and advise what the best treatment plan would be.

That sounds a little like what a dog I use to have did upon occasion. Her name was Hey You, and sometimes, just out of no where, she would start screeching, and even take off running, as if to get away from the pain. I noticed when she did this her head dropped some and she turned it to her left a bit.

I took her to the vet and he thought that she had a pinched nerve in her neck, and it was caused just by her moving 'wrong' sometimes. At that time (1980s), there wasn't much to be done, given she was usually back to normal within an hour or so.

When it first happened, it was doing so almost every day, but later on, she only experienced these episodes like once or twice a month. The vet thought maybe she might have jumped down off of something and just jammed her leg, (like it didn't take the shock from the jump) and the the force went up into her neck and compressed a nerve in that area.

The only think I could do for her, was given her a mild pain killer, keep her from moving around to much, and I would just try to keep her relaxed by sitting on the floor next to her and petting her.

I hope you can find out what is going on with your dog, it's really hard to see them hurt like that and not be able to do much about it.
