Collecting a urine sample how?

My vet could not get a urine sample from my dog today. his bladder was empty. So, he gave me a cup and told me to use a wire hanger to hold it when he lifts his leg to pee. I am not very coordinated I tried using my hand and just got drops of urine on my hand.

Does anyone have any tips on how to do this?

Try a larger containerhttps://www.walmart.com/ip/Glad-Food-Storage-Containers-Soup-and-Salad-Container-24-oz-5-Containers/14894226?wmlspartner=wmtlabs&adid=2222222222200966 4846&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=e&wl1=o&wl2=c&wl3=103 55023749&wl4=pla-1105785894187&wl12=14894226_0&wl14=glad%20snapware &veh=sem&msclkid=be7e143c9520142a065e4fa486096b 2f
or ask your vet if you can leave your dog for a couple of hours for the bladder to fill. They can than catharize him to collect a sterile sample.

Thank you. A larger container would help.

He said I can come back and he can try to aspirate again. This just seems gentler

Thank you! I was able to collect some. I thought it would not be enough but it was.
