Can you identify this insect? Flea?

Hello! New user here.

Is anyone able to identify this creepy creature? Flea? Louse?

There were two of them in my dog's brush, after brushing him, this morning. He's been itching intermittently for maybe a month, but I haven't found any fleas or other bugs before (assumed it was allergies). The vet started him on preventative Nexgard three months ago.

On the counter, this bug crawled a bit. No hopping. Lots of legs. This is maybe the size of a large flea. You can see it on the brush for scale.

Will do some more thorough examination later.

Many thanks!

I cant be sure what that is, pretty sure fleas have 4 legs & louse have 4 with an extra two at the front which look like legs but have nippers like crabs. Things which have lots of legs- centipede pupa, isopods, caterpillers

Looks like some kind of insect larvae.
Do a google search for segmented insects or look at http://www.bugguide.net
