First time poster.
So my dog Shaolin tore her cruciate ligament back in February and she has had surgery to repair it. 2 months after the surgery she was still limping on one leg, but she would use her bad leg from time to time. The vet was concerned as she should be getting better, but she was healing too slowly. He performed an X-ray on her leg and he found that the the wound was infected and so he gave me antibiotics which slightly improved her symptoms.
To this day, she uses her injured leg when we go out for walks but she still hops when she is off the leash. When shes standing, she tries not to put any weight on it. She doesn't use the injured leg when she goes down the stairs. When she sits, her leg sticks out to the side.
I've tried to lift her front paws up so she uses her hind legs but she fights it and tries to sit down. When I have been successful with it, she tries not to put any weight on it.
I usually make her do the exercises after I've taken her out for a walk.
So can anybody recommend any good exercises that would build strength on her rear leg or any tips on making her put weight on her leg.
