Exclamation Bloody Diarrhea and vomiting.

Yesterday afternoon (10/29) my dog started having diarrhea with small amounts of blood. We took him to the vet and they tested his blood and pancreas levels. Pancreas was fine but his blood work came out as really high cholesterol ( Idk why he eats limited ingredient organic heath food) and a couple other high things , the doctor said this was fine and was because he is bleeding. He also had a tiny fever. They gave me antibiotics and pain pills for him and sent me home. Hes pretty sick and I was wondering if anyone had experience with these issues and what it ended up being and what I can do to get him feeling better faster.

I know he needs the Bland diet and pumpkin but dose anyone else have any suggestions? I wish I knew what was wrong with him vets are not sure what it is.(he has had all his shots and January he had booster shots.)

It could be so many thing, from stomach bug, to dietary indiscretion, to pancreatitis, to colitis. Just to name a few.

What I generally do when my boy gets an upset tummy is fast him from food for 12 to 24 hours, 24 hours is best but I usually don't do it because he gets an upset tummy from his stomach being empty. The fasting is to give his tummy a chance to settle down. Then I'll make him a bland diet of cooked sweet potatoes, and cooked lean ground beef. I use the ground beef because chicken gives him diarrhea. I mix half meat to half potatoes, and feed him a teaspoon every hour or so for the first couple hours to make sure his stomach is able to handle it then give him a couple tablespoons and wait a few hours before giving him a full portion if he's doing good on the smaller amount. After a couple days on the bland diet I start slowly switching him back onto his kibble.

Will definitely try that! Thank you for the advice. The vet believes its Colitis but didn't really give a solid answer he was pretty unsure what it was. He was able to eat a little today and kept it down surprisingly. I just hope the recovers from this quickly. Hes pretty sick.
