Unhappy Anyone have a dog with lupus? Help

Hello. I'm new to this site, but I'm looking for friends that may have dogs who have been diagnoised with Lupus. The vets think that my 6yr old German Shepherd female, may have it. Just looking for information on quality of life after diagnosis and how hard it is to keep in remission.

Any friends with information, please help!

Have had no experience with lupus in dogs, but in humans the symptoms, response to medications, and remissions are very variable, from individual to individual. I've known a couple of people that have it, their quality of life varies from excellent during remission, to not so great during flare ups. I'm guessing its pretty much the same in dogs, but your Vet is your best source of information.

BABY has Lupus. Are their lesions or ulcers? If so, have they biopsied to confirm. There is no way to diagnose between different AI diseases and other diseases that mimic without a biopsy. An ANA blood test can confirm SLE but its shady at best and must be done prior to steroids and other immune suppressant drugs.

I would not get to worried at this point until it is confirmed. I would see a specialist though and RIGHT AWAY. AI diseases is a bit more involved than what most regular vets can handle. See if there is a Dermatology clinic in your area and prefer one that is board certified.

If it does end up being Lupus, no matter what version, it will be totally unique to your dog. Could be a couple weeks of Pred and no more lupus ever or could be a long hard struggle to keep it at bay.

A lot of people I talk to have a dog with fairly easily controlled variety of lupus but some of them are not so easy.

See a good Specialists first and then go from there, heck, it may not even be lupus

Praying for you and your baby
