Allergy or Nervous Habit?

Hi,
My Female Jack Russell, Lizzie, licks her paws all the time. So much that she has licked all her fur off of her toes. The Vet suggested it may be a grass allergy and has me giving her Zyrtec. But it isn't helping and I am beginning to think it is more of a nervous habit than an allergy. She licks or should I say bathes my other two females as well. She will lay on the couch at night on my lap and bathe my girl Jessi for over an hour if undisturbed. Lizzie is a retired momma. She loved being a momma. LOVED it. She bathed her pups so much they were always sparkling clean LOL! So what do you think, allergy or habit??

I don't think that its an allergy if she keeps on doing it, how long has she been doing it? How old is your dog? Zyrtec is usually recommended for dogs that are 1-3years old, and yes it is highly suggested by vet when there's a licking problem. Please ensure that you will only provide the right dosage for it can create an impact to your pets, precaution is suggested. I hope you'll be able to resolve the problem, but nonetheless this is a normal habit.

Aww this would be totally driving me nuts with worry! You poor thing! To me it does sound like what a dog would do if they had a grass allergy but is his skin/pads on paws turning red and getting inflamed also? If not it's probably not a allergy. It might be part habit/part something else. What about yeast? Or Something similar to that. Maybe try a different vet, see what they think.
