Ugh, someone please give me some ideas here. My 19 month old siberian husky has been having some problems. This started when she was about 8 months old.
Every month or so she'll break out in some sort of "hot spot" either on her mouth, ears, or paws. It's usually her mouth, primarily worse on one side and it turns her normally black lips to pink, becomes swollen and itchy, and she starts losing hair in that area.
Sometimes her ears become flakey, itchy, and red. Right now it has progressed into a really nasty ear infection, hence why I'm desperate for an answer and making this post.
She has had only a couple issues with her paws. Seems like certain toes will bother her to the point of chewing them constantly despite irritating them further.
These things take weeks to go away... sometimes with antibiotics, sometimes on their own, and sometimes they only subside for awhile only to come back with a vengeance.
I have been to three vets. One said could be allergies, and the other two said she was sensitive to getting dirt/bacteria in certain areas?? I keep her clean though. It seems strange to me that she could simply step in some mud in the backyard and I have to worry about her getting an infection?? How do you prevent something like that?
No one can give me a solid answer.
Also one vet confirmed it was NOT mange.
I need your ideas. Anyone who has experienced something like this, I would greatly appreciate a reply.
Might be able to include pictures later.
