A week after I got my puppy he started getting very itchy, so much so that him scratching would wake me up in the middle of the night. So I decided I would start ruling out foods that might be causing it, so I switched him to a salmon and pea dry food and he gets fish and potato wet. He was so itchy we also gave him a cytopoint injection to ease the itch and it helped, it only works for about 4-6 weeks and I figured that would be good timing since when you switch foods it could take that long to notice a difference. So itís almost at the end of the 5th or 6th week and he is itchy again yet not as bad as before yet. How long exactly do you try a new food to determine if it helps or not? Iím almost tempted to do allergy testing, itís expensive but I feel like if I do the test I will get a clear and accurate picture of exactly what he is allergic to and it should end up saving me money in the long run. Has anyone here done the allergy testing before? Iím gonna give the food a couple more weeks, as long as he doesnít get itchy like before Iíll stick with that food. Just thinking about theballergy testing of the bad itching starts again. Any thoughts?
