7-months puppy with a ruptured ligament - what to do?
So, I'm dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety right now: we took Ziggy out of a dog pound around a month ago, only to realize after some day that he was limping badly with his right posterior leg. We had x-rays done and the vet diagnosis was simple: complete rupture of the ligament.
Now, his suggested course of action would be to wait until Ziggy is 8 months old, then perform an extracapsular surgery
to stabilize the knee.
Question is: has anyone had to deal with something like this? Apparently, Ziggy can't have a TPLO because he's too young and needs to form his final bone structure. But the extracapsular is less successful, as far as I read around, and other docs are suggesting me to wait more time and then opt for that kind of surgery.
I really don't know what to do. Anyone who has experience with this?
Thank you very much.
