18 month Lab skin problems and weight loss

Hi guys, I have recently over the last few weeks noticed my dog has a really weird skin "rash" on his back leg. I took him to the vet twice, the first time he put him on antibiotics and it seemed to knock it down a bit, but after a few days it came right back... took him a second time and he gave him a shot that seemed to once again knock it down for a couple days but now it's back... to make matters worse it looks like it has gotten bigger and might be starting on his other leg. My lab has also lost close to 10 pounds, he was at 85 and now around 75. We do have an apple tree in the backyard that he was eating quite a few apples off of, now all the apples are gone so I'm hoping that's why he's lost so much weight. Another weird thing he does is he likes to lick the carpet when he's inside, I never see him licking the ground outside so I don't know what that could be about either??

Please if you guys know anything please let me know! I'm thinking I'm going to go back to the vet this week, I just don't know what to do with his skin problem. It looks painful and raw. Any answers appreciated!!!

Thank you!

I think you need to have your Vet look at him. Possibly some sort of skin allergy, but your Vet needs to assess. Unexplained weight loss is always something that needs to be investigated. It could be nothing, but there could be something going on with your pup that needs attention and treatment. Again that visit to the Vet is critical.
