Good morning everyone, at least here in Las Vegas. Brand new to the forums, and am just trying to get a little advice on "my" dog. But first let me give you the run down....
Long story short, I had a room mate for serveral years and this room mate had an older dog. Room mate eventually moved out BUT left this very old, and uninsured dog. It was ok, I have an older (10+ years) olde English bulldogge BUT my dog has had insurance since he was rescued(poor guy).
We will nickname the old roomie "POS." So POS moved out, and he left Aidan behind. Aidan is a 16+ year old red pit bull. He's going grey, eyes are glossing over blue, back legs are shaky, doesn't eat much anymore.
My inquiry for today is that he's had a growth forming on his nipple. Looks to be a tumor or cancer of some sort. The growth is about the size of a quarter, it has bled once before and I feel bad for him. His time is coming close and just want him to be comfortable.
My questions are if anyone has any advice.
How painful/ what is his quality of life right now?
Removal quotes ($$)?
I don't have extra money right now to take him to the vet, so I guess I'm trying to see how important a visit is at the moment.
Temperament-wise, he doesn't need to be put down, as he's hanging in and not in any serious pain other than arthritis and cold joints.
Any advice, critic, shaming of POS is welcomed, thanks!
