De Shedding blade, good for double coats?
Can anyone please tell me, is a deshedding blade a good tool to get rid of loose hair and dead undercoats in double coated dogs specifically BC's? I currently use an undercoat rake, one with a double row of teeth, but it's unfortunately not been looked after as well as it should have been, so now it's getting a little rusty. I was simply thinking of replacing it with a similar, if not identical model, was looking at one in the pet shop this am when I dropped Xena off to be shaved and the lady recommended me a deshedding blade instead.
I've always stayed away from furminators and such because they have blades, I don't want to cut their hair, just get rid of dead undercoats. I live in South Africa and summer is in full swing, but the other four BC's don't normally get shaved, so Which tool would be better, or is there another tool out there that would do a better job?
