Bad Haircut

I have a Goldendoodle and just took her to be groomed for the first time. I was very specific about what I wanted. Asked if she could just trim around the eyes with scissors and trim her body hair slightly. I told her "Please do not cut her like a poodle." She cut her like a poodle. Approximately how long will it take for it to grow out? Thanks!

Depends on the dog, as hair growth or re-growth varies from dog to dog, and their current health has a lot to do with it too. With our dog, Samantha, her hair grows incredibly fast, like four or five days after a haircut you can see that it has grown some. She needs a complete haircut every four weeks, so for her that would be the length of time for her hair to re-grow to where it was prior to her last haircut. Don't know where you took her, but we have had good luck, meaning good haircuts having the groomer at our Vets office do it. Since she has been giving Samantha haircuts for over seven years now, we really don't have to say much to her, as she know how we want it cut. Also she, the groomer loves Samantha, which makes the experience far less traumatic for Samantha.

I have a poodle and finding a 'real' poodle groomer is very hard! ( My Molly is hand scissored into a modified Continental) The best advice when you want a specific haircut is to take a picture with you of what you want, and give the groomer specific not 'general' directions like "Kinda short' or "Just a little bit"..... those kind of directions are too open to interpretation!
A Doodle clip is usually just a poodle puppy or kennel clip without face or feet shaven BTW!
Anyway, rule of thumb for the poodle half of your dog's coat is 1/4 inch of growth a month LOL!!!!

The light one is a Goldendoodle and the dark one is a Poodle both are in 'Teddy Bear' clips which is the now the clip most often used by Doodle owners who want the big fluffy puppy look! LOL
They don't look much different at all !

Wow, Samantha is half poodle and half Bischon, and believe me her hair grows substantially more than 1/4 inch per month. Like I say, it just varies from dog to dog.

Oh I totally agree! 1/4 inch is just a minimum! Molly is a hairball too! I do her 'inbetween' groomer appt clipping on her butt, face and feet, and I have to do it once a week!

Yea, you get pretty good with those scissors for all the necessary in between haircut trimming! I have scissors scattered all over the house so I can quickly grab them for on the spot trimming.
