Advice needed on grooming longer haired lab
I own a beautiful chocolate Labrador named Bonnie and she's a pure blooded lab, but she's so different from the labs I usually see. She's super stocky, and has longer fur than normal. While she's not long haired, I certainly wouldn't call her short haired. She's always been massive and slightly chubby, despite being on diets, and has folds upon folds of furry skin.
I've read that you're not supposed to cut a lab's fur, but hers is longer and so thick! I worry about things getting trapped in all that fur and she's sometimes itchy. I also live in a rather hot climate and while I've read the double coat helps keep them cool, maybe it's different for sub-tropical places? She's just so different from typical Labradors I don't know if she's a special case. I'd really appreciate some advice!
