The wet, muddy "under-carriage" syndrome

Hi, I would really appreciate any help you can offer This is my first winter with my Pekingese. We live on a farm and after every walk all the hair on his under carriage is totally wet and muddy and he needs to be showered. All the dog coats I've seen advertised keep them warm but don't protect the fur on their stomachs from getting wet and dirty. Looking for an inexpensive solution. Thanks

Under a google search waterproof jackets dog miniature - then click on images there's some that cover the belly if you scroll down. But you're right most dont cover the belly. There are some cheap raincoats under alibaba brand. Could you make one? cut out some holes for the front legs in some waterproof fabric & overlap the panels over the back- tie a belt around- like its on backwards kinda.
