We recently adopted a 2 year old Borador, and have a 3 year old Jack/Rat we rescued as a pup. They are transitioning together quite well.
He, however, was used to his other "sister" being very, VERY mellow, letting him always take her bones, etc, away. He won't typically chew on a bone, unless it's a bully stick, or something that disappears quickly, vs. a marrow or elk bone, that sticks around for the long term. However, our new girl LOVES to chew, and loves her elk bone. So, now, suddenly, the JR wants to chew it too.
If I put two or three out, he still wants to take what she has. She got insistent and reeeeally put him in his place the other day, not letting the bone go, which, I feel is fine, he needs to learn boundaries, now, finally, although, he is pretty relentless.
Wondering what may be a good chew tat I can keep in the house for both of them to chew? Little ones are too small for her, big ones, he struggles with, which is fine, but, I'd like to have something in the house they can work their issues out that's safe for both. I give her the elk bone in her crate, and when he has the run of the house, he gets his smaller items. But, for when they are both out, and are working out how she can happily chew something while teaching him her boundaries, I'm wondering what would be a good option? Maybe a rope toy? Thanks for any ideas.
