Hey guys,
I run with our 50lb English Pointer mix, who is 14 months old. We live in St Louis, and the weather from Thursday onwards is going to finally be below 20 degrees for the winter. We run 5km, and we do it in less than 25 minutes, usually around 21 minutes, so a pretty quick pace.
My dog obviously has a shorter coat. We run on paths and concrete, etc, and there will probably be very little snow in St Louis, most likely just ice.
Does my dog need a sport coat for running, or will she generate enough heat from the pace of our run that she will be fine?
Also, I was thinking of getting some balm for her paws, what kind should I purchase? I know salt will be our biggest issue as a result of the ice, and she has a huge tendency to lick her paws so I want some balm, then I'll clean her paws post run.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice given.
