They are more of a thing for busy people. But really, what's the point of being to busy to feed your own dog? I personally enjoy feeding Chester rather than a machine doing it for me. Also the dog will bond closer to the person that feeds it. I have no idea if a machine effects that, but I don't want to risk that.
If you have to leave for work early in mornings then maybe the automatic feeder may be an idea. What are the reasons you're interested in one?
I agree with Jeru. Feeding is an important part of the day for my dogs. I would rather feed them myself then let them "bond" with a machine.
Something I do like is automatic watering systems.
I enjoy feeding my dogs. I think it's a big part of bonding. I love seeing them so excited. Also they can malfunction and some you can't tell how much they're eating. I would never use one.
Advantages of Automatic Dogs Feeders
1,You control the exact amount that your dog eats
2,The food is kept fresh and free of contaminants
3,Binge eating is avoided
Disadvantages of automatic dog feeders
1,It is more expensive
2,You have to be aware of the battery
3,They are more likely to break down

Discussing the Problem:
There are a few of problems regards with the “animal feeder.”
Due to the total weight of the feeder being heavy, since the object will be heavy, the PVC legs might not support the heavy weight.
The sensors to let the pet food come out of the PVC pipe, might lack.
Monitoring the pets, there would not be any type of monitoring of which pet is eating which meal.
Dispensing action may be noisy and may be disruptive to sensitive pets.
Why Focus on These Problems?
Regarding with the object being heavy, if it ever does fall sideways, it might injure the pet, to avoid that, thicker PVC legs would be needed, even so avoiding from the object being wobbly.
With the problem of lacking sensors, it would dispense preprogramed meals even if there are leftovers, or uneaten food from the pet.
With monitoring the pets, it is important, to observe which pet is eating which meal, if multiple pets are sharing the feeding area, they might end up taking over one another’s meal.
With the dispenser being noisy and may be disruptive to sensitive pets, it would keep them away from eating, even when if the pets are hungry.
