Pitbull winter wear

I have decided to get a pit from my local shelter, but my only concern is the cold weather as I spend hours outside every day, so I wondering what you have in your dog's wardrobe for the "harsh" winter? Currently it is -11°F outside.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't recommend keeping any dog outside when it's that cold for any long amount of time. If you do short walks or just outside for quick potty or play time look into getting a sweater/jacket and maybe even doggie boots.

No problem, and just keep in mind, just because you can't spend hours out with the dog when it's that cold now dosnt mean it's going to stay that cold out. And I'm sure others can give you tips.

I just bought this coat for my dog: https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/fits-all-weather-dog-coat-15062

It arrived a few days ago and is very well made and comfortable on her. It's well insulated so it'll keep her warm.

If you're dog will be outside for an extended period of time, I'd also invest in some boots.

I agree with the above poster that you should be careful of how long the dog is outside in that weather.

I wouldn't recommend taking your dog out or being out for that long. Dog's do get cold. I read an article about how you can tell if a dog is cold! You can read here: https://swifto.com/blog/how-tell-if-your-dog-cold

Usually, when they start shaking it means they are way too cold. Just a quick thing to keep in mind. Make sure you are able to provide warmth for your dog, even though you are outside, maybe there is a place for your dog to stay even after its been out for a bit!

Good Luck!
