Pens and gates for an escape artist dog

Wire pens and gates have proven useless in keeping my dog inside as she has a penchant to climb them using the wire as ladder!

We have switched to cardboard boxes (really big ones, about 26 inches tall, and ~ 3ft x 3ft in play area) mostly because there is nothing for her little feet to hang on to but now she's managing to jump out of that! Just a full on leap and grab and pull herself out and hop over. She's not a big dog at all!

So now I need advice, she's running into areas she's not allowed to mostly so she can get my attention and I come chasing after her, which is not a good habit for her to learn. I need gates and enclosure suggestions that can contain my monkey of a dog.

You can get something like this it's 54" x 36.5" x 44.75", and is 75 lbs it's a crate for dogs that are 90+ pounds so should make a decent play pen for a small puppy. https://www.chewy.com/frisco-xx-large-heavy-duty-double/dp/125054

I'd say get an exercise pen, the highest one you can, and make a topper for it, but I'd be afraid your escape artist would try to squeeze between the top and the side and get hurt.

I managed to find a ex pen on kijiji (canadian craigslist) for $40! So I took apart some sides and jerry-rigged it into a smaller confinement area connected to her crate (secured with zip ties), just enough so if she needs to pee, she has somewhere to go when I leave her. I used the other panels for gates for our stairs. Hopefully this keeps her in! Leaving the top open, she was still managing to jump through it so I took another panel and closed it off. It's 30 inches high! She's barely 10 inches tall! Crazy crazy dog.
