I work on a ranch and as I work I can't keep an eye on my dog 100% of the time. I'm looking for a electronic device that will keep my dog within a set limit of myself as I move about the ranch Something that will automatically tone my dog that he is getting to far away from me. There are lots of products that the user can call their dog back when they notice, but I need something that works automatic as I can't always be watching. Imagine a 200 or 300 foot electronic rope. Anything like that on the market? Thanks Russ.

Not sure if I understand exactly what you are looking for but they do make wireless portable dog boundaries. If you were to use tone only training/ settings, I believe this method would stay in accordance with this forum's bottom line regarding the use of any aversive methods of training and containment.

Google "portable dog boundaries" and you should find products which have what you are looking for and most have tone only settings.

I've never used a product like this, so I have no idea how reliable a product like this might be.

Definite element of *risk* for the dog, loose & not supervised around livestock.

There are lots of products that [let] the user call their dog back when they notice [they've wandered], but I need something automatic, as I can't always be watching.

presumably the ranch includes livestock? - Some of whom won't be averse to chasing, kicking, stomping, biting, or head-butting a dog to Kingdom Come.
Having seen what happened to a young [15 to 18-MO] GSD who thought the bull was playing when he charged at him, i wouldn't want any dog who wasn't a stock-savvy herding type, loose on a ranch that included 4-footed herbivores.
Especially if i was busy doing other things, & leaving my dog to her or his own resources, to take care of themselves & deal with whatever arose.

WARNING - graphic:
They scooped up what was left of the GSD with a shovel - the bull knocked him down, then knelt on him, & finally shoved him practically into the ground with his head. It wasn't a recognizable body, but a black-&-tan bag of broken bones & crushed organs.

no, i know of no such product - however, generally speaking, anything that "automatically tones" as a perimeter-warning, usually automatically ZAPS! immediately after the warning tone. :eyeroll:
Shock isn't a favorite of mine for control, confinement, training, or indeed, any other purpose.

What OP wants is an electronic that warns the dog that he is getting to far already, sure dog gps trackers like Whistle 3 GPS, Trackidog, or any gps tracker that apply geofencing but what they do is that they only tell you that your dog has passed the designated area what it doesn't do is recalling the dog (or at least the products that I know only of and I don't know much).
