Kong SafeStix Chew Toy--what's in it?

We have a new puppy--a rescue 11 month old Labrador-Pyrenees mix. She is a great dog, and lots of fun. So far, in her first week with us, she's obliterated 3 plush dog toys (pulling all the stuffing out). Seeking something tougher, we got her a Kong Safe Stix--our last dog, who passed at 9 years from a bowel obstruction, had been addicted to raw hides and we didn't want to do that with this dog.

Here's the question: the Kong toy drives our new girl into a frenzy. She acts like a cat on catnip. Is there something in the plastic to do this? She loves all her toys, and loves playing tug-of-war with the rope we got her, but this Kong toy she goes just plain bananas for, rolling around on the floor with it, etc. etc.

The Safe Stix feels dense and heavy, but is supposed to be able to float. Is it the material that elicits this response, or something in it?
