I have a year old chocolate lab who destroys any toy I get her, we have a few that she hasn't destroyed yet (thank the Lord), I was wondering if anyone knows a good brand that is made for big dogs that can last a long while. She loves balls and tug ropes but destroys tennis balls in 5 minutes and with ropes she pulls every thread out.
I wouldn't call them indestructible but my destructive girl has done really well with our BarkBox toys! We have a subscription and she gets 2 toys, 2 bags of treats and a chew each month. They also have a "Destroyers Club" (I think that's what it's called) and you get points for each toy that gets wrecked and then you get free toys. I don't do that because her regular BarkBox toys hold up pretty well.
Before we signed up for this, I would just go to PetSmart and buy old holiday toys for $1 each and replace them as they got ruined.
I know some people train their dogs NOT to destroy toys, but I honestly don't care if she does... I just don't spend a lot of money on them.
We've bought the "indestructible" toys before, and usually it just means that it takes them a little longer to destroy. Our border collie/lab mix can chew through the durable heavy duty fabric ones like they nothing. Kong makes a line of rubber style toys that seem to last forever. And rope toys. I usually just buy a mixture of those type and the cheapo ones in the bargain bin at the pet store. I figure as long as it's their toys and not my stuff, it's fine.
In addition to the Kong toys, I once bought my sister's boxer a Nylabone frisbee type toy that was the only frisbee the dog never destroyed. She loved playing frisbee but she was really hard on them. I don't know if they still make such a thing, however, as that was a while ago.
Ive heard good things about goughnuts if your dog is interested in rubber toys.
