Help with winter coat search

Can y'all help me find a coat that will fit Zody? I thought I had one with GoldPaws Series Double Fleece, but he is firmly between sizes. If I get a 10 it's loose and he pees on the edge of it, if I get an 8 then it's too tight and he hates wearing it, he needs a 9 and they do not make a 9.

His belly and lower chest is nearly completely naked so he needs the coat to have a full chest piece, the ones that velcro around the neck, and girth, leaving most of the undercarriage uncovered defeat the purpose of the coat for him.

He is 9 lbs, 11" length, 15 1/2 girth, and 10 1/4 neck.

I'm willing to spend up to around $50 if the coat will fit,

It looks like a great coat but it doesn't look like it'll work. If I get the smallest size so it fits his neck and girth it's 3 inches too short in length. If I get the next size up neck and girth are going to both be around 3 inches too big.

The neck bungies down and the girth is so adjustable that it won't matter. The back length measurement is the most important because everything is so adjustable. I have a review on my blog if you're interested.

ETA: They also run big so I bet a 10 would fit him perfectly. Also, are you measure the base of the neck? Hurtta goes by the largest neck measurement which isn't really the neck, imo. LOL

I'm just so tired of buying him jackets and them not fitting, on the flip side my friends with small dogs are benefiting since I can usually find something of Zody's that he can't wear but their dog can:rolleyes: For added fun if the coat sags a bit at the belly he'll pee on it which means he gets one use per day out of it before i have to hand clean it and wait for it to dry.

I measure where a collar would sit at the base of the neck. Do they go by a measurement that's further down?

I totally understand! Zoe is "in between" sizes so she's a pain to fit, too! Hurtta measures at the very, very base of the neck.

You could also check out Made By De. She does custom coats and I like them, too. The only thing is sometimes on her coats, the length comes up a little shorter than what I prefer. I like my coats to cover all the way to a little over where the tail starts.

We had the same problem with our dog and finaly we orderd a clean coat, which is custom made. It probably costs more (idk how much, because my mom gave it to me for christmas), but it looks like it will last a really long time.

I think I've at least temporarily solved Zody's coat problem.

I tried the coat I handmade last year on him but he simply does not like that one, I think the problem is that the neckline is hard and it cuts into his neck when he raises his head, I know that has to be very irritating. I decided to just put his slightly to big GoldPaws double fleece coat on him and if he peed on it I'd just clean it and figure out how to get it dried in time for our next outing. I really took a look at how it fit him and noticed that the problem is that the chest piece is to long but otherwise it fits great, well I should be able to fix that! When I got him in I pinned it so I knew how much I needed to cut away to make it fit. So far I have it baste stiched and the excess fabric cut away. When I tried it on him it fit perfectly. Now I just have to stitch the edge closed properly and make sure that the seam I had to cut into does not come unstiched.
