I have a 34 pound Terrier Mix (rescue). He has destroyed 2 plastic crates by chewing the metal bars out. We just purchased a "heavy duty" crate on Amazon this week. He had destroyed several of the bars within hours of us being gone and he was out of it. I'm looking for something a dog can't destroy.

Background: Dodger has been crated since he was young. He likes the cage. The door is left open and many times he will go in and lay down. He suffers from separation anxiety sometimes. We never know what will cause him to destroy a cage. He is about 6 years old now but has figured out he can get out of these cages. We have come home to find a bloody mess from him tearing at the bars. It's sad to see. Other times, he can be in the cage for hours and seems very happy.

When we leave the house for a few hours, we really want to crate him. Any ideas of a cage that can withstand this kind of dog?

I think only the car ones made from aluminium will do.
Or, if he's not a big dog you can get a pen for him, maybe if he gets more space he'll stop destroying the bars. I used to do that with puppies, so they can have their toys and water in there and it worked much better than a crate. They didn't really feel being locked and I didn't have to worry that they'll destroy something (especially when I was renting a house...).
