I'm putting together two first aide kits, one for in home and another for travel (to fit in their go bag). I was wondering what main things I should have in both of them. What things should I have at home that I can leave out of their travel kit?
mine's nothing fancy; gauze sponges & bandages, tape, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, dexamethasone for allergies, eye drops, scissors, tweezers and a muzzle. i need to get a rectal thermometer but i keep forgetting.
Dogs can usually take the same stuff as we do; I have a cheat sheet dosing guide printed up in my first aid kit for the opiates antihistamines and antibiotics that I carry which includes both human and canine doses.
Basically everything a human needs besides the bandaids! (Obviously you don't want to put a sticky bandaid on your pups fur!). I would suggest gauze, bandage wraps, disposable gloves, antiseptic swabs, wound plaster, tape, eye drops, and canine friendly styptic powder! Or you can go to the pet store and pick a pre-made pet first aid kit, but it can get a little pricey. I just bought a small, portable one on Amazon for 12 bucks. I can just stick it in my fur baby's day bag! Good luck
