Hey all, my dogs wear regular nylon collars 24/7. One buckles and the other one snaps. They don't mind them, but I was wondering if there's a more comfortable option out there for them?
I think this depends....
mine swim daily, so i use Syntec. A water proof type. Leashes too, as dogs are dragging them often. I need water proof, strong enough to hold my dog in full drive, where buckle is heavy duty, during bite work.
Till i handled this brand, ive been Amish leather all the way. Till i switched. Id never go back to leather.
my girlfriends buy shoes, i buy dog equipment lol
I have this one, bought a size bigger just in case and it's really good! The quality is so so good, exactly as on the picture Check their store, they have some nice ones.
I usually take George's collar off at night. It's a signal to him that the day is done. I probably shouldn't cos if we have to get out of the house quick then it might be a problem.
But then again, if the house is on fire I'd rather he ran outside anyway and I'll worry about his collar later.
Both dogs and the cat wear collars 24/7. I've thought about it and weighed the pros and cons and decided that any of them getting loose without their collars on scares me the most. For my piece of mind, all pets wear their "necklaces" all the time here.
And their tags jingle so I can hear if they're up to no good. ?
Both my dogs wear leather collars 24/7. Forbes has a rolled lather collar so it doesn't tangle his coat and Roxie has a flat leather collar. I think really it all depends on personal preference. What you like looking at and what your dog needs to wear to accommodate their lifestyle (i.e. waterproof, etc).
I had a problem with Cappy's metal I.D. tag - the lettering became illegible after about 8 months!
So, I looked online & found a collar with his name & phone number embroidered, so it should last a long time. It's also pretty: blue with yellow embroidery
Ours wears a flat leather collar, during the day. Its a very soft pink leather, and her name is embroidered on it. Her tags are attached to it. I recall paying quite a bit for it, and it has held up well for five or six years of constant use, but is now showing signs of wear. I know I ordered it online, can't recall from where, and have not been able to find it again. I would order another one like it, if only I could find it.
I often leave the collars on 24/7 but sometimes take them off so they can be more comfortable. If I'm honest, they never seem to notice so I'm not sure why I do it.
For our dogs we use hunting collars. They’re very durable and water resistant. You can also get a metal plate riveted into it with your name and number. So as long as the dog has on the collar, your information is there. We have collars that have been used for years, and you can still read it perfectly.
I very rarely wear collars on my dogs, mainly because my dogs play a lot and they kept losing the tags off them and the way they play, I am afraid they will get hung up on each others collars. I do always put collars on them with ID whenever I go anywhere.
Hi BriscoDog24
I recommend ezydog neo collars to my patients.
They are durable and very comfortable. The inner part is made of neoprene which doesn't irritate your Dogs skin or create discomfort. Plus it's waterproof! https://store.ezydog.com/categories/dog-collars/
There are definitely regular and comfortable collars for your dog to wear, I usually check online for all these and i have been discovering things that suit my taste on rarepetstuff.com. They have varieties of collars for you to pick from there.
My dog wears a nylon collar with reflective stitching. It's made by Kong. He's a bi color shepherd husky cross, so he's hard to see in the dark. He wears it all the time with no problems, no signs of any discomfort. I needed something easy to clean as part of my property is designated wetlands. It just holds his tags and provides a little more visibility.
It's easy to wash. I only take it off when he needs to dry off such as when we've been out in the rain or he's just had a bath so it doesn't make a damp spot for bacteria underneath. I usually take the opportunity to wash it up then hang it in front of a fan or furnace vent to dry before putting it back on.
