Electric fencing instead of driveway gate

My yard is completely fenced except for the 15 feet across the concrete driveway. Any ideas instead of installing a driveway gate? I was thinking maybe a wireless fence. Again, it's only 15 feet that I'm trying to handle. Thanks for any ideas! :)

Hi, I too believe a physical fence/gate would be a much better idea. For sure, electric fence systems can work very well, and depending on the situation may be the most practical - maybe if you have a variety of people coming & going all the time, can't fence your dog off otherwise for some reason...

But strong punishment methods of training - be they electric fences or otherwise - have 'side effects' which can make them problematic, even more harmful than helpful. Fences like that for eg. can cause the dog to become fear aggressive toward people & other animals, as they may 'blame' them for the pain when they go near. Or whatever might be closely associated with the punishment. Even if they learn it's going near the boundary that causes pain, that may cause them to fear going near the boundary any time - how do you take the dog thru the gateway? If something happens to cause the dog to run through the electric barrier anyway - and depending on the motivation, they can also learn that a short, sharp pain is worth the effort - or if the power's down, they're free, but they will then be 'locked out', won't want to cross the punishing boundary to come back home.

And then there's the potential for faulty electrics. Granted that may be rare, but I have known of the odd instance where the collar continued to shock the dog. And the other possibility of other loose dogs coming in to your dog's territory...

Please, finish your gate. One thing about electric fences, it doesn't stop other dogs or any animals from coming into your yard. Another thing I've noticed with a neighbor, if your dog should go thru the electric fence, it may be hesitant about coming back thru due to the shock. Something for you to consider.

Hey guys :) I have similar problem. Our family just moved in a new house but our backyard is still underconstruction so our dog often starts to "travel" around our neighborhood. So I'm planning to instal wireless dog fence. I was looking for some suggestions on the internet, and found an article with products listed below, maybe you tride any of these products?
