Dog harness on 24/7?

The previous owner told us she keeps his harness on, so I have been. His tags are on it. I take it off occasionally, like for baths, but he usually has it on.

Is that okay? When would I take it off? He goes in and out of the backyard during the day. I have him on a leash for walks.

It is a regular leather harness with the buckle on the back. He is able to get comfortable.

I could take it off at night when he is inside.

My dogs wear collars 24/7, unless I specifically take it off to give them a scratch in that area.

Honestly, a harness is probably safer that a collar being used that way. I've heard horror stories of dogs' collars getting caught on things like crates, or dogs' jaws getting caught in play.

I take Zody's off. It fits loose around his neck and I'd hate for him to get caught on something, panic, and then it squeeze tighter and tighter as he fought to get free.
