Morning!

Traveling to NH from FL for the holidays. We have 3 dogs, 9-year-old golden, 4-year-old german spitz (like poms, but larger), and a husky pup who will be 4 months old by then.

We will be traveling by car and staying with family. We don't intend on having them be outdoors while we're up there except for when they have to go to the potty.

We're on a really tight budget and I honestly rather not spend a lot of money on stuff they'll wear only 2 weeks given I have to do the same for the non-furry kids/adults. I'm definitely buying the german spitz a jacket since he's suffering from tracheal issues. But do the golden and husky need them? Someone told me to forgo the jackets and get them boots, but not sure either one of them would wear them.

Thoughts?

I am having the same problem except i have to leave within 48 hours for a 13 hour car ride.

The research i have done is limited to a few hours, but it all says about the same.

There is only one organization that looks into dog safety on road trips. There is only one harness on the market that is deemed safe and a couple of close runners up and no stores sell any of them. Mainstream stores only sell decorations (for lack of a better term). If you buy from pet smart, petco, Walmart etc and you crash, you LT dogs are going to get severely hurt or probably killed.

old sweatshirts & sweaters from the thrift shop make fine dog coats, get a suitable size, cut the sleeves off, done. enjoy you visit. they might not need anything
