Dog dragging paws

my dog has hip dysplasia. She drags her back paws. I've bandaged them up but I'd like to get some boots for her. Does anyone have any boot recommendations for dogs that drag their paws? Thanks in advance.

The poor thing. Are you giving her any joint supplements or any other treatment to help with pain/mobility? It's not a cure-all, of course, but depending on severity it should help noticeably.

I've tried these "Pawz" brand boots with mixed success. They're very thick rubber or some kind of latex, I think. On one of mine it fit too tightly at the ankle, and far too loose at the paw, strangely. Some Amazon reviews mention puncturing at the nails; and I suspect not doing regular nail trimming might be an issue there. Still, the fit worked on the others, though it is a chore to get all of them on and off; eg; dogs are unhappy with either having their feet handled, or unhappy with the fit/feel. Admittedly, I have not used these much at all. (Winters have not been too terrible in the last few years, so that helps also.)

There's a whole slew of well-rated boots on Amazon that I'd be giving a look to, and then comparing prices on ebay to get your best deal. Many of the others are higher rated than the Pawz. If I were to get another brand, in your situation, I'd probably try a neoprene boot, like these. Durability might be an issue, though, again, depending on how your dog drags her feet, and if her nails are trimmed regularly. There's a good example on that page of a reviewer whose dogs' nails are NOT being trimmed regularly, despite his claims. Regularly means at least every week or at the latest, every other week.

If you don't want to go that route, as a last resort, I might even try a self-stick vet tape wrap like these. It's the same kind of stuff they put on you after donating blood, and is pretty durable. A few rolls should last quite awhile. (How much does your dog walk?) I keep a few rolls of this stuff in my doggy 1st aid box.
