My jack Russell papillon mix has bad anxiety whenever I go on long car rides when we go camping. I was giving her calming treats that helped but was wanting to get a anxiety vest but was wondering if anyone knows of the anxiety vests work before I buy one?

Yes, it does.

I've used Anxiety Wraps with many clients' dogs, they do work - BUT with any such conditioned items, U must 1st pre-condition them as safe / associated with feelings of content, happy, relaxed, etc, AND U must refresh that association, repeatedly, once U begin using them around stressful circs / events.

If U don't repeat the process of having the dog wear the Wrap at home, under calm, relaxed circs, a minimum of 2 to 3 X per week, it will become a cue to get anxious - BECAUSE they wear it during anxiety-provoking events.

The last 20 to 30-mins of the evening B4 bed are usually a good time - no loud Hollywood cop-chase or exploding buildings or alien invasions with automatic weapons, please.
Put a few spritzes of botanical lavender-water on a cotton ball, place it on a saucer, & sit the saucer on a heat source to let the scent dissipate.
No guests, just residents at home; quiet, music on [not heavy metal], read, do on-line stuff, play cards, knit, ______ .

I also use DAP / Adaptil pump-spray with dogs who are fearful or anxious.
Let us know how it goes... :)

We adopted a Chinese Crested back in March. Unfortunately his previous mom would leave him at home by himself for days at a time with only food, water and pee pads. This lead to severe separation anxiety and we are constantly searching for remedies to this.

The Thundershirt has really seemed to help while we are gone. Fortunately he doesn't seem to be bothered by thunder, lightning or even hurricanes (we live in FL) but the Thundershirt works for many different things. I would highly recommend trying out the Thundershirt.

I got a Thundershirt for Mira. She doesn't get terrified during storms like my old dog who used to tremble and hide in the bathtub, but she gets antsy like she can't fully relax and get comfortable. I've had it on her twice just to get her used to it when she's already calm and relaxed. Haven't had a chance to use it during a storm yet. Only thing I can share is that she quickly got used to wearing it and doesn't seem to mind having it on at all. I was afraid she'd resist wearing something tight like that.

Good to hear other folks having good results with the Thundershirt and similar products. I don't see why it wouldn't work for anxiety-inducing situations other than storms.

If you try one of these products, @backedbarley, let us know how it goes. Good luck.
