Ugh so freaking upset right now.
So to start Karma has a pretty sensative stomach. Last time she took to raw amazingly well. We didn't have any issues until we did a protein switch and it took her about a day or two to get over that. Never had a problem when we had first started I assume because she was getting a lot of bone heavy meals. So that helped...
We had to stop because at the time I couldn't fully commit to it plus cost. But now I'm in a better place financially to pick it back up so as of 3-4 days ago I started making the switch back to raw for Karma. Fasted her for a day then like I did before started her on backs etc. We were on day three of eating backs and I had to work that day so took todays meal out and put it in the upstairs fridge for easier access and gave my dad instructions to feed her in her crate when you feed the other dogs.
Well instead of doing that he goes and dumps a bunch of old yeller crap kibble into the automatic feeder and lets her loose to eat it. Now to start Karma is terrible at self regulating and will completely gorge herself if given the opportunity so I've always measured out her food etc. Well if I had to guess she probably at 5x's more than what I would measure out for her and when I got home she looked like a whale her belly was so full. And thanks to that she now has god awful diarrhea.
(I also realized that he also fed her the same way yesterday though I did forget to tell him about her raw meal and I think I told him to late and he'd already fed the dogs so I judged that my error and figure today with my specific instructions things would go better but noooo....)
Feel so bad for her... Thanks to this huge mess I'm left taking her out litterally probably every hour plus cleaning her crate when she does mess in it *sigh*
So from now on I shall tell him absloutely do not feed her anything and I will take care of it when I get home from work in the evening...
Anywho plan now is to fast her for a day then do a diet of rice/boiled chicken for a few days to settle her stomach and then eventually try and make the switch again.
Thankfully Abby's food is not a problem since she's on THK and I prep her stuff in the AM before I leave for work and since it's already in her bowl they just give it to her in the evening
