So this is Lucy, my dad's new puppy. She is a is 9 weeks old now. Her mother is a PB blue merle border collie and apparently the dad is a border collie mix. I don't really know the story behind it.
I can't quite put my finger on it but what else does she look like? The litter was 4 blue merle pups, 2 red and whites and one black and white more fluffy puppy.
What do you think dad could be? I was thinking maybe even Karelian Bear Dog, as they are somewhat common in my area, but would that mix produce those colours?
Lucy has a dark spot of hazel in one eye and has some silvery merleing on her ears and tail. People have suggested pit bull (which I don't think is right...) and husky, which I think is because of the eyes.
What do you guys think?
The first ones are Lucy and then there is a picture of mama and then the siblings when younger.
I mean I will not meet Lucy for almost 4 more months so she will be over 6 months when I meet her. But I am getting another dog in January myself... if that's what you were asking
Lucy's ears are going up now! She is half purebred Border Collie (mother is a blue merle). My dad was told the father was also a border collie mix but I highly doubt that.
I'm kind of thinking maybe Karelian Bear Dog... I know they are not generally common, but in that area a lot of people have them.
Don't all puppies "appear" to be well mannered? I actually don't think she is haha, she is very mouthy and growly. A pitbull has been suggested, but that wouldn't explain the ears....
BTW, I had no idea bc's even came in merles, so I looked it up and wow...! All the different type of Border Collie coat colors! So many beautiful patterns. The working bred bc's I've been around are usually black and white or brown and white.

Yeah I know! I thought at first the mother had to be an Aussie mix... The mother is GORGEOUS. There were a few blue merles in the litter, 2 red and white (like Lucy) , 1 black and white and one "self" blue merle (no white).
Lucy has the merle gene, you just can't really tell in photos. She's got a bit of merleing on he ears and bum I'm surprised that her hair is quite short!
I didn't mention it on here, but Lucy almost passed away last week. My dad broke his foot about 12 years ago and has recently been having swelling and gout in that foot. He gets a prescription anti inflammatory and a drug that does something to the uric acid.
My dad had the prescriptions in a paper bag ON THE DESK and Lucy hopped up there and ripped apart the bag and ate the whole bottle of the anti inflammitory. She had her stomach pumped, but had internal bleeding and lost a ton of blood. Her little pink nose went totally white and same as her gums. She was fainting and was in the hospital for a few days. She didn't eat almost anything (my dad actually had to make her spaghetti with beef because that is the ONLY thing she would eat). She went from 23 lbs down to 15 again. They were really worried about her kidneys.
My dad just got the bloodwork back from yesterday and Lucy's kidneys are almost back to normal! Yay We were really worried about her. She still will take a few weeks to recover, but for now, she's getting pretty spoiled! My dad is even cooking for her, showing he is a huge softie down there.
Anyways, just thought I would share somewhere!
On another note- it looks like one of her eyes will stay all blue and the other could possible fill in brown or stay as it is (part brown/mostly blue). Her black nose spots are getting bigger, so we might just get a dog that has a black nose. I can't wait to meet her in April.
