Some people think that small dogs are "less capable" but I can only say for sure that if I didn't have my little JRT all the animals in the farm would freak out from foxes and rats!
I love mini horses! Anyway, although I would prefer a large dog I definitely love small dogs too! They are really cute and they are capable of a lot of things!
Of course they are 'real' dogs! At the age of 63 I have had dogs of every size in my younger days...everything from a large Rhodesian Rideback down to my current Mostly Mini Poodle Fluff! They were all trained to be well behaved good companions. The size as I got older became smaller as I became less able to handle a large breed...and now I am disabled but refuse to live without a dog, so size matters. Being able to lift/groom, house in an Apt., and afford to feed the best possible diet and be able to provide for all the physical needs that have to be addressed.....So now I am one of those "Senior Citizens with a foo-foo looking dog!LOL! But believe me Molly only LOOKS foo-foo ! She is no different than any other larger breed that likes to play in the mud, swim, plays scent games with me, retrieves, and just plain ol' loves life!
I LOVE MY FLUFF!!!!
This is so awesome! Also, you ever seen a herding Chihuahua? See, dog's shouldn't be able to do limited things because of their size. Pugs and Chihuahuas are my favorite dog breeds. Too bad so many people think of my dog Roxy and say, "Chihuahuas aren't 'dog enough.'" Just look at what small dogs can accomplish! I love all dogs, no matter what size!
I always wanted to train one of my Chihuahuas for SAR..Thought they or any small dog would be perfect for searching in small spaces. Just because they are small does not mean they are not capable..
