therapy dog vest colors

Maggie's evaluation is on March 9th. I am pretty confident that she is going to pass. I am looking into purchasing a therapy dog cape for her to wear. The website I found: https://www.therapydogvest.com/therapy-dog-7.html

We are going through Pet Partners but I hate the vest colors (burnt fellow or brown. Ew) I also would like to become registered through other groups as well and would like to use the same vest. The website listed above has many colors, I like pink or purple for Maggie. Does the color matter? Also what style patch do you like? They are all listed on the website.

Depending on your location, it may be illegal to use a blaze orange vest, as some states reserve them for service dogs for the deaf.

If you're just doing volunteer therapy work, it's otherwise pretty much what looks good on your dog unless your specific group has regulations that say otherwise.

Hmmm... When I belonged to TDI, we were required to use a bandanna and tag that TDI provided. Vests weren't allowed, only the official TDI bandanna and tag. They also wouldn't allow members to belong to other groups IIRC. It's been awhile (things may have changed) and you're testing with different group, so I really have no idea if Pet Partners has similar regulations. Just something to look into.

I called Pet Partners, they do not have a policy on what the dogs wear, only that they wear something. I am now torn between which colors. I have sometime. Thanks everyone!

We have a green vest for my pup, she's my therapy dog, soon to be fully certified.

Given as Connecticut has bylaws allowing for deaf dogs only with orange vests and collars I'd stay away from getting anything remotely orange in color for that reason.

Particularly when for service dogs Connecticut only seems to acknowledge guide dogs for deaf / blind people and not much else.
