Is it too late to change her name? :S

I've had Lola for a little over a month. She does know her name, and she's 12 wks old. Tonight, my roommate goes "she looks like Nala from the Lion King." I wish I would've named her Nala! Is it too late to change it? And which name do you like better-- Nala or Lola? Just curious

Of course, you could give your dog 10 names if you wanted to They don't really understand the "concept" of names. I like the name Nala, but also Lola...maybe you could give her a first and middle name? :P

I should think that she would soon pick it up, especially as the names sound similar. Although I don't think I could suddenly change my pups name...once he's been named then that's it lol. But they are both pretty names

I changed Ratchet's name when I got him. He spent his first year using the name Shadow which I used for about half a day before switching over. He pretty much started answering to Ratchet from the start. Now, if I someone uses Shadow, he tends to stress out.

No it's not to late to change her name but I would suggest being absolutely sure that the new name is one your going to keep.

I've adopted two adult dogs, and changed both their names. It was fine, they picked the new one up very quickly.

I got one of my dogs when she was almost 3 yrs old. She responded to her new name in no time. If your pup is only 12 wks old...it's unlikely to cause any problems I like Nala...

I changed my dogs name when she turned around 3-4 months old. Her name was Penny at first, then I realized that the neighbors dog was named Penny and I didn't really like that name for her anyway. We changed it to Gwenny which is really similar. I think it would be ok if you change her name to Nala.

I really like the name Nala and, as the others say, I'm sure she'll be fine with the name swap.

You can change a dog's name whenever you want. Dogs have no concept of names. They understand some words and know when you're referring to them by your body language and tone of voice. My mom's rotti was 10M old when she got him (he's 5 now). His names was Evans. She renamed him Bruno. It took a few days, but he learned that that phrase meant for him to pay attention.

My new pug was named Midget II by his 1st owner, Popeye by his second owner, and now I'm calling him Gus. He doesn't care. He gets more excited for "Who's a good boy?!"
