at that age she is ina critical developmental period and is missing out on nessecary lessons from her mom.

Puppy Development

this is a good general outline of puppy developmental stages.

as for the age your pup is at now, you want to try and facilitate some safe socialization, ideally a new dam that will take her in.

but if you cant do that, you want ro work on inhibition and careful socialization. b you also want to make sure this pup is not alone as much as possible. she was weaned too early imo.

I don't wanna sound harsh but having any animal under the age of eight weeks is illegal-whoever sold or gave you the dog is really really in the wrong
Seriosly? Or is that just in Canada? We got Tasha at 6 weeks too. Some guy came up with his three daughters and they had 5/6 pups. Definanty accidental, they were saying anything to get rid of them. If I had told him I liked chihuahuas he would of told me they were part chi. :P 50+ lb chi, lol!

very seriously-I know laws vary state to state but 8 weeks is minimum weaning time for any animal and as far as I know in the US (defo Canada and the UK) it is VERY illegal to separate younger then that

What state are you in? I could look it up for you?

OK not every animal-mammals-so horses, rabbits, cats, dogs etc-animals protected under pet laws-livestock is generally different and less laws govern them.

Of course I think that a reputable and responsible breeder will not give a puppy at that age even if the laws accept it! (At least when I was about to take Liza the breeder put me in a corner with 1.000.000 questions before he even let me have puppy from him)....ok that was off topic!!

I think Zim's post was very important.....as far as laws go I know that a while back I looked up the legal age to sell a puppy and Here in my county in the state of VA its 7 weeks ...I would much rather it be 8 but at least there is a rule in place
