As crio said-If you are not giving them a job, they are going to be a big pain in the butt.

Honestly, I'd say go to your local humane society/spca and look around. Looks are certainly easy, but you'll want to match the energy level ot you-and a shelter employee or volunteer can certainly help you with that.

As Crio said-that's not to rare in terms of looks-like if it's the color you like, tons of dogs have those colors!

Also-in terms of protecting your family or being wary of strangers...Unless the dog is blind and deaf, he will No matter the breed.

poodles don't shed...they only have one coat and the hair falls out from time to time just like your hair may fall out, but they don't shed. even short hair breeds shed. i have a short hair dog, i have to brush him regularly to control the hair loss...that is one of the main reasons for all the poodle crosses you see now a days...

similar, bc of the shedding, but a bit more robust in appearance the pwd

what about a brittany spaniel, matches the size, they are very athletic. i'd say they are an easily trainable breed, and would definately give a solid warning bark....also, i don't think they have a dense undercoat...

not exactly the physical match to the dog you were describing, but similar.

browse and give us a better understanding of what you are looking for. I think a nice spaniel or retriever mix would suit you.
