Day 8:

My little is doing very well, incisions are completely healed however he walks like he has a stick up his butt, literally.

It's almost like he swings his tush side to side when walking???

What the heck??

This is going to sound dumb, but does he still have the cone on? He may just be compensating for it. Otherwise, not sure.

Not dumb at all...!

Yes cone is still on. I made the mistake of prematurely taking it off and sure enough he opened up two of the last remaining visible stitches

So can I assume cone is causing the funny butt walk?

Thanks

Ive always trimmed those cones down an inch or two. Never had an issue.

Helps with the "woe is me" walk lol

I'd say the cone may be part of it. Depending on the fit, Crio is right, sometimes they can be trimmed... but if you're not sure it's actually too big, trimming it would defeat the purpose obviously. Two more days, if he's acting normally otherwise, I wouldn't be concerned.

Bentley was neutered on Wed so this is day two, the first night and morning after he was a little hesitant to pee, but today he is back to normal. he did pee more than usual, still squatting, no leg lifting,but he has more pee to do when he goes than usual... he still has his cone, which he hates. They are saying he has to wear it for 10 days omg!! He is walking bow legged now too. Oh also the cone they gave him is soft, not plastic, they told me to just leave it on him the whole time? I want to take it off so badly.. it is cold and he needs his sweater but I dont want to not be able to get it back on.

@Meg81

I had the cone on my guy all the time, took it off maybe 30m a day under supervision, obviously we were both going nuts but it was certainly worth it. His incisions healed beautifully and Murray is back to his normal self.

Honestly speaking the only thing that has changed post op in terms of his behavior is that he's now EVEN MORE RAMBUNCTIOUS, CURIOUS...hahaha, I guess he's still not over crate fever?

Good luck!

PS. They seem to become oblivious to the cone by day 3
