clover came with the name, and when i got him, i wasn't particularly fond of it, i thought it was way to girly to fit him, anyway, he already responded to it when i got him, and he was having such a hard time those first few weeks that i didn't even bother to think of anything else, and i didn't want to add one more confusing thing to his already miserable/scary world, so...it stuck...

i have his paperwork from the pound, and it says he was found as a stray on st patrick's day, i'm assuming that they named all the dogs they found that day after something having to do with the holiday, like lucky, and clover is for a 4-leaf clover...

anyway, i like his name now, lol, it's like since i've learned to associate it with who he is, i can't help but like it...

I named Gizmo before we saw him...always wanted a dog named Gizmo.

We brought Loki home and we were searching for names online...he promptly climbed onto a pile of papers and tipped it over...just as I came across the name Loki (who was the Norse god of Mischief). It fit.

Gracie was harder. She came to us with the name LuLu. I wanted to name her Isis or Lotus, but hubby didn't like either of them (especially not Lotus since it was close to Loki and we had lost him a couple months prior). He came up with Grace and we decided on Gracie (I like two syllable names for some reason).

Munchkin - was small and I just liked the name. She's still the smallest but no one messes with her. She has an "Oh you better think about that before you do it- look" and they all give her some space.

Gracie - she was called Suki when we adopted her @ 3 yrs old but I decided to change it because she didn't respond to it anyway. She is very feminine and graceful so it fits her well

Quagmire--- this is what happens when you let your son and husband name a male dog. We mostly call him Gigidy now tho.

Mischief - she is pure 100% Mischief, all day-all the time!!

Heidi - just always loved that name. It's a sweet name for a Mastiff I think. I didn't want to call her Thor or Cujo like my husband did so it was either going to be Heidi or Kinred. I like both but she responds well to it now, so Heidi it is

We asked our 20 month old what he wanted to name him. He said, "Wheels." We know it was totally random, but hey.

Our GSD, Lazy Boy- He was the biggest, fattest and Lazyest pupy of the group. Hence the name Lazy Boy.

Whisky- Well, long story short I named my pupy after a alcohol because
A) She couldn't walk straight yet, and
B) because, her blue merle coat made me think of whisky...
(I don't drink, promise!!!)

We have a parrot named Darwin, so when we got the puppy the only name that fit was Huxley (for Aldous Huxley, Darwin's bulldog). We are science nerds.

Cleo was named by My Ex. She had an addiction to everything Egyptian.

Missy was named Pickles at the shelter, but I started calling her lil' Miss and it fit her personality perfectly.

Harley was named that from his previous owner. I have started calling him Bugsy, because he reminds me of an old gangster in a bowler hat. Probably won't stick, but I am hoping.

Betty was the name she had when I got her from the rescue.

I chose Boris because it sounded funny for a gentle tiny white puff of fur, and also because since my cat is called Sacha, I joked I was growing a russian mafia of love. I think the name sprung to mind because I've been drinking a lot of Boris Cool drinks this summer

Sacha was originally spelled Ça=chat (in french it translates as that=cat) I grew weary of the alternate spelling pretty fast though!

Emmy came with her name. She was named after the Emmy Awards, so I am guessing her rescue had a Tony, Oscar or something around the time she came in too.

I didn't want that name for her, I have this thing about human sounding names for dogs (unless it is really unique) and I wanted to change it but my mom said "We already got the tag for her collar and we aren't getting another one!" :P Plus, I couldn't think of any other ones, my mind was completely blank or nothing else seemed to fit her so it stuck. I actually love her name for her now. It so fits her and kinda like fawkese said, I associate that with her, so it works
