Well, Charlie's name...I just have always liked the name Charlie, and I really wanted to name a dog that, so when I found Charlie, he honestly looked/looks like one.

Roxy got her name simply because I liked "Roxy" and thought it was a cute name for a spunky little Pug!

Pearl already had her name. She originally belonged to my grandparents.

Penny was named by the woman who originally took her off of the streets (later became her foster mom) because she "kept coming back like a bad penny".

LeRoy recieved his name through a contest! My husband told his 7th graders that whoever could come up with the best name would get extra credit and earn cookies for their whole class. The only catch was that it had to be musically related. Hence, LeRoy's full name is "Bad LeRoy Brown".

The shelter named Scooter and Emma already.

I've always liked the name Tippy. So I had that "saved" in my brain for use later. I was going to call her "tipsy" since she can't walk right, but i figured that was too mean, so its Tippy, as in "tip over". Her full name is Tippy BEAN. Because at our house anything Chihuahua-like is a bean.

Critter was just som'thing to call the dog, the shelter had named her "corrella" yuck yuck. We almost never use the Critter name tho except on paperwork. We call her "B".

Kiwi's original name was "delilah" which I didn't care for, but tried to use anyway for a few days, I decided it was too hard to say and nixed it. She has green eyes and fuzzy brown skin, like a Kiwi fruit.

Chili had no name for a while since we were in denial about keeping him. We were at dinner deciding that we should give him a name. My husband was still not wanting to keep him, so he told me I could name him, just nothing with any thought or meaning to it (I guess so I could part with him easier) so we named him "chili" after the Chili's restuarant we had the convo in.

Btw, Kev, not me, decided me should keep him

Buddy (Budweiser) ... My OH and his mates were in the pub trying to decide on a name , there was a Budweiser promotion on so my OH settled on that name (I met both my OH and Buddy when Buddy was 1 year old ... we lost him aged 15 in 2008)

Toffee ... we wanted a chocolatey themed name , Toffee crisp was our fave chocolate bar , so we settled for Toffee

Gypsy ... ive always loved the name Gypsy and had kinda decided that would be her name before I even saw her

Teddy ... He already had his name (he was a rescue dog) and it suited him so we kept it

Tonka was the name given him by the rescue family...suited me just fine, since I call my jeep the 'tonka truck' and he's SO solid, tonka truck fits him well ( it was meant to be! )

Chloe was here for about three weeks before I decided to name her, as I couldn't find anybody looking for her. poor girl, she's SO sweet! Anyway, after getting to know her, I decided on Chloe because of her face, it was perfect!

Adorable!

When Opal was a puppy she was pitch black and I named her Opal thinking that was what the black stone was called. (Duh, it's an onyx.) By the time I figured out my mistake, she was already Opal.

All of our animals have to named after a theme so when we got Jasper he was named after another kind of precious stone. (I would someday like to get a little white something or other and name it Pearl )

Ace got his name because my husband said all bird dogs need a one-syllable name and in the pet name book Ace was the first name we saw and we liked it.

Recently, the bird dog puppy came along and you can guess how she became Deuce.

Smalls is named from a character in The Sandlot. Jack's full name is District Attorney Jack McCoy from Law and Order. Jonas is my favorite male name and was reserved for a child, but I do not want children. There is also a good song called My Name Is Jonas by Weezer. Magpie came with that name and it grabbed me right so it stayed. I was going to rename her Indie, but I never felt it was right.

Harvick from Kevin Harvick (nascar)
Peyton after Peyton Manning (colts)
Tinkerbell was her name when we got her, so it stayed
Wendy because Tinkerbell and Wendy are the two girls in peter pan
Glacier because he is white and we wanted something different
Chunk, which was not a great choice lol, because he was a chunky puppy, now tall and slender of course
