i had Valentino for less than 24 hours (my first puppy- im a formal cat person)and im trying to have him on a schedule

wake up around 6 am morning walk
back to the house feed him drink water
back out for 15 to 30 min
play indoor for a while then place him in his crate..

when i placed him in the crate after his morning playtime 2 sleep a bit he started to cry and whine. i sat close to him and when he stopped i gave him a treat and then stepped a little further away from him, it took about 30 min till he slept
is this okay?is there anything else i should do????

i wish i could place him in my bedroom but my toddler is still sleeping in our room and i dont want Valentino to wake him up, sorry if this isnt the right place to post this :)

Did it take him 30 mins to stop whining when you distanced yourself? How are you introducing the crate? You may want to go a little slower with putting him in his crate. Give him a few treats for looking at it, sniffing it, and lots of treats when he goes inside of it (of course not too many treats ;) ) otherwise sounds like you are doing great!

i did try 2 type of treats he didnt like ny so when i first tried to get him in the cover was open and slowly moved his food inside when he got in i rewarded him verbally, did the same thing again in like 10 min but with the cover on the next time, maybe last night he was so sleepy and had a long day that he didnt notice? is there any alternative to ready made treats is there something i can cook for him? thank u for all ur help

this is how she looked at night she moved the puppy training bad and didnt want the blanket inside so i placed it on top, her crate is in the middle of the living room, not close to our bedroom so i can hear him if hes up but hopefully he wouldn't wake up my baby
i know its not a puppy crate but thats the only one i could find here i ordered one on line but it will be here in 2 weeks

ok. You can give some banana or something like boiled chicken (just not a lot). There is a crate training thread in one of the two puppy sections, read through that for tips on training :) Let me know if I can answer anymore questions and congrats again on the puppy!
