how to stop peeing in an area that was previously ok?

Hi Everyone

Right now I live in a 4th floor apartment so in March I first got my 2 month old puppy I taught him to use the pee pad in the bedroom.
Then in July he turned 4 months old and I moved the pee pad to the kitchen and he used that without problem.
Then today he is 7 months old and I moved the pee pad to the bathroom and he uses that OK.

But the problem is, when I go to the bathroom and close the door just for 5 minutes or 20 minutes he will often pee or poop in front of the door. He will not make any effort to hold it in.

He can stay in the crate overnight for 8 hours so I know he can hold it.

Maybe he thinks this area is still OK to poop, how do I teach him it is not OK?

Thank you in advance

I think you need to just supervise him more and hope for the best. Bring him into the bathroom with you, see if that helps

Why are you using the pads if he's 7 months already and can easily hold it overnight? I would stop using them, just simply take them away and keep eye on him, when he starts looking for a pad, just take him outside.

Or he might be stressed, that you leaving him alone, does he ever stayed alone?
