Red face Lastest I could feed my dog? Woke up with a couple presents this morning!

Okay, so early this morning I woke up to the smell of two fresh presents by the door curtosy of my BC Ace. I grumbled at him a little bit, but it's mostly my fault, I fed him a little too late evening and I think he tried to wake me up by crawling up on the bed, but I'd had a late night so he didn't wake me up all the way. I also didn't think he'd have to go that bad because I took him outside and he went number 1&2 around midnight.

I usually get up any where from 7am-8:30am so I was just curious as to when is the latest time I should give him something to eat so that he still has time to let me know if he has to go out, or I could take him out. Thanks!

Sorry I can't remember-how old is the dog? And how well potty trained is he?

No worries!! Ace is 1yr and 5months old, he's perfectly potty trained. In the mornings he wakes me up to go out, and usually if we're in the house he starts getting restless or if you open the door he hops up real fast if he's got to go. Or if I ask if "Gotta go outside?" in an excited tone if he's gotta go he gets really excited and starts trying to play with me while I'm putting on my shoes Like I said, the accident was all my fault, I knew better but I thought it might me okay. I was wondering if anyone just had a better idea!

Do you feed him at the same time every night? I think that would be most helpful. Get him on a regular feeding schedule and most likely he will be on a regular potty schedule too.

Agreed! I actually know what times my dog needs to pee/poop based on feeding/watering/crating. Once your dog is on a schedule, you can back up when to stop feeding/watering at night. My dog (17 lbs) can't take water closer than about 1–2 hours before being crated for the night (I take away water between 9 and 9:30 p.m.), or he won't make it until morning.

No, like I said right now they are free fed at the moment, but I'm changing all of that around! I guess it would make sense though, I'll start them on a schedual and just learn his times and find that happy medium!
