I had wanted a horse all of my life and, 15 years later, my parents finally gave in (after they realized I wasn't growing out if it
) Tessa is my 10 year old APHA red dun tobiano mare. I love her like crazy! I've only had her a year, but she's coming along so well! Before I got her, she was spoiled and owners didn't really discipline her...kinda just let her get away with whatever she wanted. She also wasn't ridden much, so she's still a little green. Nonetheless, with the help of my amazing trainer, she's picking up Dressage and Jumping really well! She's great riding bareback or going out on a trail ride, too. Only ridden her western a few times because I enjoy English better, but she's a great all-around horse! Planning on showing this spring with her.
What's really special to me about Tessa is that, as I said, I wanted a horse my entire life. That gave me plenty of time to dream up the "perfect horse" and would draw and list out all of the qualities my someday horse would have. And Tessa matches that list perfectly! My favorite horse color was a red dun tobiano, but since they're not common at all I never dreamed I'd find one. What astounds me even more is that I found one locally, around the age, size, and gender I wanted...she even has my favorite facial markings (star and snip)!! She's super smart and sensitive, which is great...on most days
When she's feeling a little (*cough* a lot) sassy she's a force to be reckoned with lol. I love reading and, because of this, name my pets after books. Tessa is named after a strong, lead character in one of my favorite series, The Infernal Devices
, by Cassandra Clare. And some pics for you because this girl is photogenic
Old pics when I first got her- she's much more muscled up now
Her mini Dorsal stripe!
I call her Tess-Mess for a reason! She loves to roll and is always dirty!
